Between personal journeys and fashion history, the Fashion Mix exhibition, presented at the Palais de la Porte dorée in Paris tells a different story of immigration: that of men and women, creators and craftsmen from immigrant backgrounds, who have contributed to making Paris the international fashion capital it is.
Jean-Julien Simonot designed a scenography that uses the workshop’s codes with large white tables mounted on trestles. Quotes from creators punctuate the journey. We chose to treat the graphic design in a minimal style, in black and white, in order not to alter the colors of the dresses. The titles were cut out of fir tree to echo the furniture.
This very contemporary graphic and scenographic treatment allowed the Musée de l’Histoire de l’immigration to reach a fashion-forward audience that was less familiar with the place and the subjects.
