With a hall that can accommodate 525 spectators, the theater of Corbeil-Essonnes, France, is an essential cultural venue in the region. Its complete rehabilitation constituted a major challenge for the preservation of a place of exchange and animation open to all forms of expression: theater, cinema, exhibition, and music. The Clé Millet International architecture agency was given the challenge and entrusted us with the signage.
The very modern building’s exterior does not immediately indicate a cultural space. For that reason, we chose to treat graphic design in a more literary way, using a serif font to name the performance spaces and for the quotes that cover some of the walls. The more technical orientation signage was processed in a linear font. Arrows in painted mediums were added to energize it all.
